UKATA-approved asbestos training delivered at your site, remotely or at our centre across England & Wales. Awareness, Duty-to-Manage and Non-Licensed Works — all with certified attendance certificates issued the same day.
The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR 2012), Regulation 10 places a clear legal duty on every employer: anyone liable to be exposed to asbestos during their work must receive appropriate information, instruction and training.
With over 1.8 million buildings in the UK still believed to contain asbestos-containing materials (ACMs), the risk is real for anyone working in construction, maintenance, facilities management or property management.
Failing to provide training leaves employers exposed to HSE enforcement, unlimited fines and criminal prosecution — and puts workers at risk of mesothelioma, asbestosis and lung cancer, often decades after exposure.
CAR 2012, Reg 10: "Every employer shall ensure that adequate information, instruction and training is given to employees who are or who are liable to be exposed to asbestos, or who supervise such employees."

We deliver four UKATA-approved courses to meet every level of need — from basic awareness through to non-licensed works and duty holder management.
Foundation level — the legal minimum for most workers
The essential starting point. Required under CAR 2012 for anyone whose work could foreseeably disturb asbestos-containing materials. Covers the health risks, how to identify ACMs, safe working practices and what to do in an emergency. Does not authorise delegates to work with asbestos — that requires the Non-Licensed course.
For duty holders, landlords & building managers
Covers the legal obligations under CAR 2012 Regulation 4 for those responsible for managing asbestos in non-domestic premises. Delegates learn how to implement a compliant Asbestos Management Plan, assess ACM condition, commission surveys, manage contractors and document all actions correctly. Requires a valid UKATA Awareness certificate (within 6 months).
For operatives who will knowingly disturb ACMs
Designed for workers who carry out tasks where they will knowingly disturb low-risk asbestos-containing materials — as defined under CAR 2012 Regulation 3(2) and HSG210. Includes both theoretical instruction and hands-on practical training covering safe work methods, PPE, decontamination and correct disposal of ACM waste. Requires a valid UKATA Awareness certificate (within 6 months).
Tailored to your team, industry or property type
Not every team fits a standard course. We develop bespoke training modules tailored to your specific industry, property type, workforce level and operational requirements. Ideal for organisations with large teams, unique site conditions, or specialist roles requiring content beyond the standard UKATA syllabus. We also offer annual refresher training for all course types.
If you work in or around buildings constructed before 2000, you almost certainly need asbestos training. Here are the most common roles we train — and the courses that apply to each.
Non-domestic landlords have a legal duty under CAR 2012 Reg 4 to manage asbestos in their properties. Domestic landlords with maintenance responsibilities are also at risk.
Duty to ManageAnyone responsible for maintaining or managing a building built before 2000 must understand their duty-to-manage obligations and how to implement a compliant management plan.
Duty to ManageTrades working in older properties are among the most at-risk professions. Awareness training is the legal minimum — Non-Licensed Works training is required if ACMs will be knowingly disturbed.
Awareness / Non-LicensedPre-demolition and refurbishment surveys are mandatory under CAR 2012 — and all operatives disturbing materials must hold appropriate training certificates before work begins.
Awareness / Non-LicensedEducational buildings are often pre-2000 and carry a high asbestos burden. Duty holder training is essential for all estates and facilities staff with maintenance responsibilities.
Awareness / Duty to ManageWith large pre-2000 housing stocks to manage, housing organisations must ensure all relevant staff — from housing officers to contractors — are appropriately trained and certified.
