Asbestos in Shropshire: a local guide

From Shrewsbury's historic centre to Telford's new-town estates and the farms in between, Shropshire's buildings span every era of asbestos use. Here's what we find across the county and how we work there.

Shrewsbury and the county towns

Shrewsbury combines a historic town centre with large post-war estates and industrial areas on its edges. Period buildings have often been updated several times, and each round of work could have added asbestos — AIB in service voids, lagged pipes in cellars, textured coatings over original ceilings. Telford's 1960s and 70s housing
