Asbestos Pipe Lagging
Thermal insulation on steam pipes, heating systems and boilers is frequently amosite or crocidolite asbestos — classified as high-risk, friable material. Common in plant rooms, boiler houses and service ducts throughout older industrial sites.
Licensed WorkAsbestos Cement Roofing
Corrugated cement roof sheets and wall cladding panels were standard on warehouses, factories and agricultural buildings. Lower-risk when intact but become hazardous when weathered, drilled or broken during maintenance or demolition.
Non-Licensed / LicensedAsbestos Insulating Board (AIB)
AIB was widely used as fire protection in industrial buildings — cladding structural steelwork, lining service areas, and forming partition and ceiling boards. One of the highest-risk ACMs, always requiring licensed removal and a full enclosure.
Licensed WorkSprayed Asbestos Coatings
Sprayed coatings of amosite or chrysotile asbestos were applied to steelwork and concrete for fire protection and thermal insulation. Extremely hazardous when disturbed — found on structural elements in older power stations, refineries and heavy industry facilities.
Licensed WorkAsbestos Floor Tiles
Vinyl and thermoplastic floor tiles containing chrysotile asbestos were laid extensively in offices, canteens and changing areas within industrial sites. The bitumen adhesive beneath also frequently contains asbestos fibres.
Non-LicensedBoiler & Gasket Insulation
Industrial boilers, autoclaves, furnaces and plant machinery frequently contain asbestos rope seals, gaskets and insulation boards. These components are often disturbed during routine maintenance by engineering teams who may be unaware of the risk.
Licensed WorkIndustrial sites present unique challenges that domestic or light-commercial contractors are simply not equipped for: live production environments, complex plant and pipework, confined spaces, working at height, and the need to integrate with site-specific health & safety regimes.

Site Survey & ACM Assessment
Our trusted surveying partners carry out a thorough inspection of the site to identify all asbestos-containing materials, assess their condition and risk level, and produce a full asbestos register. This forms the basis of your removal programme.
Programme Planning & Quotation
We work with your site team to plan the removal programme around your operations — identifying shutdown opportunities, phased working areas and out-of-hours slots. You receive a clear, itemised quotation with a defined scope and timeline.
Plan of Work & HSE Notification
A site-specific Plan of Work is written detailing methodology, enclosure requirements, air monitoring strategy, PPE and decontamination. For all licensed ACMs, formal notification is submitted to the HSE at least 14 days before works commence under CAR 2012 Regulation 9.
Safe Removal Under Controlled Conditions
Licensed ACMs are removed under full negative-pressure enclosures with continuous air monitoring. Operatives wear appropriate RPE and disposable protective equipment throughout. All waste is double-wrapped and labelled as hazardous waste.
Four-Stage Clearance & Certification
On completion, a four-stage clearance procedure is carried out confirming the area is safe. You receive a certificate of reoccupation, complete waste consignment notes and all site documentation — giving you a full audit trail for compliance records.
Industrial clients — particularly those in regulated sectors — need certainty that their asbestos contractor is fully licensed, properly insured and will provide the complete documentation package required for compliance audits, property transactions and HSE inspections.
HSE Asbestos Licence — CAR 2012
AIB Solutions hold a current HSE asbestos removal licence covering all licensable ACM types including AIB, pipe lagging and sprayed coatings. Renewed every 3 years following HSE assessment of our systems, training and safety record.
Environment Agency — Licensed Waste Carrier
All asbestos waste is classified as hazardous waste. We are a registered EA licensed hazardous waste carrier and transfer station permit holder. Consignment notes issued on every job — essential for your duty of care records.
HSE Statutory Notification (Reg. 9)
For all licensable asbestos work we submit formal notification to the HSE at least 14 days before works begin. This is a legal requirement under CAR 2012 and provides an enforceable paper trail protecting you from legal challenge.
